Today's Events and Family

While my site is dedicated to finding more information and sharing information on my family and ancestors, I thought it would be fun to share a few tidbits about our family, my hobbies and other tidbits related to today instead of yesterday.

Hobbies

Search Angel Role

I am happy to help others find the rest of the story for their lineage and ancestry. I do this with a group of other search angels and take requests via our Facebook group. Personally, I have solved more than 200 adoption and missing parent mysteries. I do not charge for this service. I believe everyone should know where they came from, if they want to know.

Old Cameras

My gosh, I have many! I like to collect old cameras. The Kodak Brownie cameras are my favorites because Kodak realized early on how to market this new item to the marketplace. The Brownie was sold as a cheap item that "any boy or girl" could operate. Kodak realized the real money would be made in development and film. Camera collecting is still a pretty inexpensive hobby. My family has found several cameras for me over the years and I display them on shelves in my home..

Genealogy

Well you guessed it, I really like to research the family tree. The really cool part is when I stumble upon a distant cousin or two that I never knew existed before. Now if only I could figure out what happened to a few of the cousins that I know that moved off to parts unknown. "Sis" (Melva Joyce Ely Barker) - where are you? "Sis" is my dad's first cousin. My last known address for her is on Aloha Street in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has a daughter named Sherry. Since I don't have the money to hire a detective agency to find her, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me!

Grandkids

They are the best. I think I would rather be with the little people in my life than just about anyone else.

Toastmasters

Speak up! Don't you just hate it when someone goes on and on and you have to sit through a boring presentation? Invite them to Toastmasters. It is a great way to improve your speaking skills.

Community Development

Citizens you can make a positive impact on your community. While I grew up in the shadow of St. Louis, MO. I moved to a little bitty town of about 500 people. There are many opportunities in a small community for volunteerism. Today, I serve as a quilting facilitator / instructor, youth leader at my church and many other fun places. Retirement allows me these pleasures.

Ok - these are just the highlights. There are more to come!
