Very little information is known about George Scott Campbell. He worked for the railroad and it was while he was at work that his clothes caught fire and he died from those burns. We have only found one census record and his marriage record. No photos have be discovered although there are a good number of photos of other family members. Additionally, my mother can remember when her great grandmother was telling the story about how the doctor had to cut off either his arm or hand at home on the kitchen table. It is likely that was due to a work related accident.

Ada lived with her sister in law Francis Eftimoff and mother in law Emma Cassell after her husband's death. She moved from their home and the family lost track of her. She was from Missouri and no other information is known. They had a son, Frank Raymond Campbell, who apparently died as a child.

Sleeps in Weeds Fatally Burned - November 1912 (E. St. Louis, IL)

(George) Scott Campbell, a painter employed by the Terminal Railroad Association, was burned to crisp this afternoon in a weed fire along the railroad tracks near the Cotton Compress in the South End. Campbell laid down after dinner for a sleep. It is thought that a spark from a passing engine fired the weeds. Before Campbell awakened his clothing was almost burned from his body. He was taken to St. Mary's hospital where Dr. C. F. Wilhelmj pronounced his burns probably fatal. Campbell lives at Ninth Street and Valentine Avenue.

Mrs. Carl Pufalt, 43, passes Away; last rites today July 30, 1934

Mrs. Estelle Pufalt, 43, of 2820 Nameoki Road passed away at her home at 5 o'clock Saturday evening from cancer. She had been ill for two years. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Schildmann Funeral Home to St. John's Evangelical Church with the pastor, Rev. Paul Schoppe officiating. Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery. Mrs. Pufalt is survived by her husband Carl; her mother Emma Campbell of this city; one sister, Mrs. Frances Eftimoff of Fairmont City; and two brothers, Scott Campbell of Granite City and Ray Campbell of Lawrence, Kansas.

Mrs. Eftimoff dies Thursday at age 62 after 5 year illness

Mrs. Frances Eftimoff, 62, Rural Route Two who resided alone on Route 111 near Lakeside Airport died suddenly at her home at 5 p.m. thursday. She had been ill for more than five years, suffering from a hear ailment. She was born in Illinois. She is survived by a son, William Martin of Pontoon Beach, a sister in law Mrs. Ada Campbell of Granite City and three cousins, Malcolm Kassel of St. Louis and Mrs. Ruby Campbell and Bertie Campbell of Kansas City, MO. Services were held in a Granite City Funeral Home and burial was made at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
