My connection to the Pufalt family: My great great aunt Estella Campbell Pufalt was married to
Carl Pufalt, a barber in Granite City, Illinois. Carl's mother, a widow lady, lived with Minnie
Grunwald, a widow lady who was the mother of Edna Grunwald - Estella's sister-in-law, or in other words,
her brother's wife. Location of this family: Granite City, Madison County, Illinois
I often use on-line phone directories to find possible "kin", by matching last names and similiar locations, I can sometimes find others with the same family line. I wrote to Caroline Pufalt and had a GREAT surprise when I opened my e-mail and found this note from her!

My grandfather was Fred Pufalt, brother to Carl E Pufalt. I don't know a lot about my family history. My father, William Pufalt and grandfather are deceased. My aunt, Marcella, who was daughter of Sophie Pufalt (wife of Fred) and Fred's stepdaughter is still living. She is 85 but in ill health in a nursing home. I asked her about Carl. She recalls that he was a barber, who cut her hair several times when she was a child. She says he was heavy set and friendly. My mother, Loretta Pufalt, recalls that Carl did remarry but doesn't think they had any children. I am pretty sure we have Fred Pufalt's birth certificate in storage at my mother's. I will look for it and send you a copy. Fred and Carl were born in Germany. I am single, have no children. I have one sister, Susan Whitney who has two boys. She lives in Jacksonville IL. Aunt Marcella had one child, Jerry Miller who lives in Bradenton FL. Carl had another brother, Jack. His grandchildren and great grandchildren live in Fl also. Don't have any information on the Campbells and Grunwalds. I have some cousins still in Granite City. I will forward your letter to them, see if they have any info.
