James Raymond Campbell Family1884 - 1949Home > Mom's Family > Campbell JAMES RAYMOND CAMPBELL was the oldest of 5 children born to George Scott Campbell and Emma Cassell Campbell. He was born Feb. 8, 1884 in E. St. Louis, St Clair County, IL and died July 28, 1949 in Neosho, Newton County, Missouri. He married Ada (last name unknown) and they had one known child who died young. Ada lived with her sister in law Francis Eftimoff and mother in law Emma Cassell Campbell after her husband's death. She moved from their home and the family lost track of her. She was from Missouri and no other information is known. James was known to the family as "Ray" and was living with his mother in St. Louis Mo during the 1920 census. He was not yet married to Ada and we are not sure where she came from or what really became of her. Apparently, Ray had a heart attack while driving his car. Timeline: Born Feb. 8, 1884, E. Campbell James Raymond Campbell, 65 years old, of Vawter Cabins, Neosho, suffered a fatal heart attack at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon as he and his wife started to Rogers, Ark, their former home. A Thompson ambulance took Mr. Campbell to Sale Memorial hospital here, but he was pronounced dead on arrival there. Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada Campbell; his mother, Mrs. Emma Campbell; one sister, Mrs. Frances Eftimoff, and one brother, Scott Campbell all of Granite City, IL. The body was received at the Thompson funeral home.
