Ella was the third child of Katherine Ogie Frierson and Henry Clay Force. When Henry Clay Force died, Peter was sent to live with his Uncle William Q. Force in Washington DC but Ella and her younger brother, Manning, remained in Alabama with their mother. Ella married William Franklin Barnett and had several children. None of her children lived to adulthood. When Great Aunt Eileen met Ella, she saw her as a spinster woman who lived with her half sister, Rosie Martin Blair. Timeline
