Letter from Peter Evans Force to Uncle Manning Force

Carthage, Alabama
December 12

My dear Uncle,

I have neglected writing to yhou for a long time but I have quite busy all the time. Soon after I worote my last letter to you I was with Mr. Powers in his gin house and he got his left sleever caught in the saw and by the tiem the engine was stopped his left hand and arm above the elbow was torn up very badly. We all had a very pleasant time in thanksgiving week duck hunting. We killed a good lot of ducks but one young man got so excited that he fell out of the boat and lsot his gun but it was after awhile found by diving after it. I am going over to the home place to see Mr. Wiggins so I will ahve to close.

Mr Wiggins a brother-in-law to Peter's mother Katherine Ogie Frierson Force Martin. The Wiggins family rents the farm that Peter's father, Henry Clay Force, owned.
